MISSION

The Ontario Community Paramedicine Secretariat supports the Community Paramedicine Steering Committee as they advise the LHINs on policy and practice directions for community paramedicine in Ontario. The OCPS works with the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs (OAPC) to ensure regional representation in this endeavour. The goal of the OCPS will be to support the strengthening of collaborations and partnerships, particularly with primary care, that can prevent hospitalizations and improve the patient experiences as they transition from acute care settings back to the community. The OCPS will continue building a CP Community of Practice to enable the creation and dissemination of standardized care processes as well as performance reporting and measurement activities. It will enable knowledge translation and exchange as well as further research in this growing area of practice. The objectives of the OCPS will be to support the CP Steering Committee as they:

  • Act as the principal advisor in Ontario on the implementation, evaluation and spread of community paramedicine models of care across the province.

  • Provide leadership and guidance on the standardization of processes, measurement and reporting for community paramedicine programs in the province.

  • Build capacity and provide opportunities for knowledge transfer and exchange (KTE) across different community paramedicine programs to promote quality improvement.
